This project is managed by the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation, Japan (長尾自然環境財団) and works to document the freshwater fish biodiversity of Southeast Asia, with the ultimate aim of protecting the freshwater ecosystems of the region.
The project is being conducted with the collaboration of institutions in Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Japan.
The field research was conducted by local researchers by themselves and specimens were deposited in each country for the local development of human resource and environmental studies.
